The design of the total access door plus frame is extremely poor. i needed to mount it in the ceiling. the problem is that the door itself cannot be separated from the frame for installation., if you do need in later, cut the drywall between two studs, then frame the opening inward slightly with some casing moulding, put the drywall back in with screws and let the casing hide the cut marks.....works real good if you have a closet that intersects the kneewall and you can hide the whole thing back there..
Often times with sloped ceilings, you need to think outside the box when it comes to a storage closet. it’s just a matter of framing the knee wall (the short part of the wall) and the slanted ceiling. a slanted wall closet, while not ideal, is better than no closet at all. we worked from 8am until 4:15 and got the bulk of the closet built.
